In the Atlas prototype, data has not yet been disaggregated for First Nations children and young people. This decision arises from our profound awareness of the commonly inadequate representation of wellbeing outcomes concerning First Nations children and young people.

In 2025, we are undertaking a project with a team of leading researchers in Aboriginal health research to establish a robust Indigenous Data Governance framework for the Atlas. This framework will provide guidance to ensure the culturally sensitive and meaningful integration of data related to First Nations children and young people.

The team are conducting key community and organisation consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia, to ensure the visualisation and application of data in the Atlas accurately reflect community perspectives, values, and desires. This project is anticipated to be completed by end of 2025. Recommendations from the consultation process will inform a final report.
