Expression of Interest

Are you a young person aged 13 – 23 years old? The Australian Child and Youth Wellbeing Atlas team are seeking your involvement in a Young People Advisory Group.

The ACYWA is a national interactive platform for visualising data on children and young people’s health and wellbeing. This includes data on physical health, mental health, education, participation, safety and more.

By showing data in creative ways such as through maps and graphic visuals, the Atlas makes it easier for everyone to look at the data and tell the stories of children and young people’s wellbeing in all parts of Australia.

We recognise that children and young people are experts in their own lives. Your experiences and knowledge are unique to your situation and as a result, you can tell adults things that adults do not know and change our perspectives.

This is a great opportunity to be actively involved in shaping an important initiative!

Who can participate?

In order to gather input and feedback from children and young people, we want to hear from:

  • young people aged from 13 to 23 years (as of 1 February 2025),

  • from all parts of Australia,

  • from all cultural backgrounds, including

  • First Nations young people,

  • gender diverse young people, and

  • young people with disability.

More information

Members of the Advisory Group will be asked to:

  1. Contribute their views and opinions about how young people can use the platform

  2. Provide input and feedback on the platform design – we want to know how ‘young user friendly’ it is

  3. Participate in guided evaluation activities

  4. Participate in a small independent project

In the Advisory
Group:

There will be around 10-15 young people in the Advisory Group.

Membership will be for a term of 18 months (February 2025 - July 2026).

This includes 6 regular interval meetings and a small number of group meeting in between during the project phase.

As all meetings will be virtual, members will need a computer or device with video calling capabilities (including camera and microphone).

Remuneration

To recognise young people for their contribution, Advisory Group members will receive a $30 gift voucher after each meeting they attend.

Members will also receive a Certificate of Participation at the end of the membership term.

One group member will also have the opportunity to represent the Advisory Group on the project’s National Oversight Group.
